Most stars who dare to be seen in public wearing fur eventually get an intimidating cease and desist letter from the animal-rights organization PETA. There are a few different paths celebrities can take after receiving said letter. There's the Aretha Franklin route, otherwise known as ignore-PETA-and-continue-to-leave-the-house-dripping-in-chinchilla-pelts route. If one is so inclined, one could follow the Beyoncé path of least resistance and stop wearing fur altogether. Or just do like Naomi Campbell -- tell PETA you'll stop wearing fur and then do it anyway.

And then there's the Kelis path, which is to take to your MySpace page and write an angry pro-carnivore, pro-fur letter to PETA and the world to read. The singer and new mother (and ardent consumer of animal products) was so offended by an unsolicited e-mail she recently received from the organization about her fur wearing that she fired off a post in which she called for the death of all rodents and asserts she would "eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told [her] it was meaty and delicious."

Zoe Saldana's character in the top-grossing film 'Avatar' had blue skin, but in her latest role, the Dominican-American actress is going for something a bit more glamorous. Saldana has been tapped as the spokeswoman for Avon's fragrance, Eternal Magic ($22.50, available in April at avon.com). She'll also be featured as the face of Avon cosmetics in the beauty company's brochure.

Smoky eyes, bold nails and out-to-there lashes some of the major celebrity beauty trends spotted on the red carpet at last night's People's Choice Awards. Taraji P. Henson rocked some lengthy false eyelashes along with some soft makeup in nudes and light purples to match her soft lavender dress (and huge amethyst ring she's making sure you notice in this photo). And check out her bold metallic nails! These were a huge trend in 2009 that will carry over into 2010.
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger went with a dramatic and sexy look with a smoky cat eye and nude lip. Not everyone can pull this off...

Beyoncé Knowles is ready to bring her special brand of fire to the perfume counter this winter with Heat, her new fragrance that debuts in February. The singer, who has been involved with campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger True Star and Armani Diamonds but never had a fragrance of her own, told WWD that she named her fragrance Heat because so many of her tours had fiery themes.

"I'm so happy with it," Beyoncé told WWD. "I've been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I've never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, 'I love that, I'm getting that. Why isn't it out right now? I need it!'"

The fragrance has notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia and beach, with honeysuckle, almond macaroon and amber. Knowles said she was involved in every aspect of the project.

"Everything, from the bottle design to the name and the ideas for the commercials, that's me," she said. "I always asked myself, 'If I could have my own scent, what would it be?' I wasn't worried about deadlines. It could have taken me three, four, however many years. This was my first fragrance, and I wanted to make sure that it was something I would love forever."
