It's not a secret that Michelle Obama has quite fashionable taste. Not only is she up on fabulous fashion designer but she knows about hot nail colors, too. Who knew?

The first lady was spotted during the Fourth of July weekend with bright blue toes peeking out of her flats. A couple of weeks ago, she was shaking hands with military families at Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego, when she stopped to compliment the hands of a young fan wearing blue polish. "I know the name of that fingernail polish!" Mrs. Obama said to the 8-year-old.

It isn't just blues that the first lady is enamored with. On her vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine, she showed off her bright green pedicure. Obama has shown us that you do not have to sacrifice edgy nails colors because you're a certain age or your husband is, ahem, the president.
Here are a few colors that we think presidential and non-presidential toes alike would look good wearing.

Last spring it was all about nude or putty-colored nail polishes. Now it is time to up the color wattage on your nails with neon polishes! Ciara has been spotted out and about rocking this trend. Now you can wear it, too!

The best thing about wearing such bright colors on your fingers is that your nails don't have to coordinate with the rest of your outfit. It doesn't have to be so matchy-matchy, as Ciara as illustrated for us. Bright nails are an easy way to add a pop of color to any outfit. Plus, they're a conversation starter!
Before reaching for the brightest color that you can find, though, here are a few tips to keep in mind. When wearing such an attention-getting color, it is best to let the color take all the shine and not the length of your nails. Keep your nails short in a squarish oval or "squoval" shape.
To make the polish as bright as possible and minimize all the coats needed, just swipe one coat of white polish over your base coat before you apply the polish. We like China Glaze White on White ($5.99, sallybeauty.com).

Ready to for some color? Here are a few blindingly bright suggestions.

Sure, Rihanna will rock a Burberry trench in a heartbeat, but will she try the company's new makeup line? Rihanna may find that the new line of Burberry makeup is a bit, well, tame for her usually trendy tastes. The company wanted a collection of makeup that, like its iconic trench, could be worn anytime, anywhere.

The collection started because Burberry reps didn't feel that the makeup worn on the models during shows and shoots reflected the company's aesthetic.

"The whole Burberry attitude is epitomized through the shoes, the bags, the clothes and the accessories, but the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing makeup, I felt like we weren't able to get the right attitude. It was either caked-on makeup or then just the wrong colors, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for makeup," the company's chief creative officer Christopher Bailey told WWD.

Your skin is far more oily in the summer. With all the heat, you may find yourself blotting away excess oil. A good way to keep the oil -- and the pimples that sometimes accompany it -- away is to use a pore-cleansing mask. If you don't effectively clean the oil (and sweat) from your pores, pimples begin to form. It's not hard to prevent this cycle from occurring if you work a cleaning mask into your skin care routine once or twice a week.
AHAVA Purifying Mud Mask ($30, drugstore.com) exfoliates, fights future breakouts and soothes the breakouts you already may have. Plus, it sucks the oil right from your pores? We wonder if it a can pay the bills, too!

We harp all the time about the importance of sunscreen -- no matter your skin color. It helps prevent wrinkles, photo aging and those pesky sunspots, but did you know that you had to reapply if you were going to be out in the sun to maintain those benefits?

Well, a new wristband, UVSunSense ($6.99, amazon.com) takes the guesswork out of having figuring out when it's time to apply more sunscreen. A nuclear chemist invented the wristband (so you know it's pretty official!) to alert the wearer when he or she is no longer being protected from dangerous UV rays.

One of the most relaxing things a woman can do for herself is to get a manicure and a pedicure. Who doesn't feel like they are ready to take on the world after freshly painted glossy nails? Well, don't rush off to get your nails done just yet.

The latest findings, according to April 2009 issue of Archives of Dermatology, say those dryers that most salons use are a bit of a problem.
The study followed two women who were middle aged and healthy without a history of skin cancer. Plus, they weren't recreational sunbathers. It seemed that these women developed skin cancer on the tops of their hands after regular exposure to the UV dryers.
