For fall, winter and spring, you can keep pretty much the same beauty routine. But when summer comes around with its heat, humidity and trips to the pool and beach, you may need to make a few switches to make the most of your summer months. BV has five easy steps you can take to make the transition from spring to summer.
1)
Protect yourself from the sun. Most people think protecting themselves from the sun just means applying sunscreen, but the sun can be damaging to many other parts of your body besides your skin. In the summer months, your hair products (to protect your hair from breakage and drying out), lip balm (sunburned lips? ouch!) and even nail top coats (to avoid yellowing) should all also have an SPF or ingredient to protect against sun damage.
2)
Recognize changes in skin tone. In the summer, no matter how much sunblock you apply, it's likely that your skin tone will be a few shades darker than it is in the fall or winter. But if you don't have the cash to buy new foundation for each season, the summer solution is simple–you can mix your foundation or face powder with bronzer for a lighter, more summery look, or you can go a little more natural by just wearing bronzer on the places the sun will highlight your face–your cheeks, nose, forehead and chin.
