will rock a Burberry trench in a heartbeat, but will she try the company's new makeup line? Rihanna may find that the new line of Burberry makeup is a bit, well, tame for her usually trendy tastes. The company wanted a collection of makeup that, like its iconic trench, could be worn anytime, anywhere.
The collection started because Burberry reps didn't feel that the makeup worn on the models during shows and shoots reflected the company's aesthetic.
"The whole Burberry attitude is epitomized through the shoes, the bags, the clothes and the accessories, but the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing makeup, I felt like we weren't able to get the right attitude. It was either caked-on makeup or then just the wrong colors, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for makeup," the company's chief creative officer Christopher Bailey told WWD.
"Like the trench coat, it can be worn anywhere," Bailey said. "You've got natural [shades] from the trench coats and from the weather, you've got these beautiful stormy grays and blues. Then, when the sun comes out, you've got this glow and you've got lighter tones as well."
Well, maybe Rihanna might like this collection after all. We certainly would like to try it. The makeup will be priced from $24 to $60. The 96-piece beauty line will be sold at Nordstrom and Burberry.com starting this month.
