We harp all the time about the importance of sunscreen -- no matter your skin color. It helps prevent wrinkles, photo aging and those pesky sunspots, but did you know that you had to reapply if you were going to be out in the sun to maintain those benefits?
Well, a new wristband, UVSunSense ($6.99, amazon.com) takes the guesswork out of having figuring out when it's time to apply more sunscreen. A nuclear chemist invented the wristband (so you know it's pretty official!) to alert the wearer when he or she is no longer being protected from dangerous UV rays.
Here's how it works: Apply your sunscreen as you normally would on your face and body. You should make sure to apply it near the wrist and go about your day as planned.
The wristband starts out orange, but it turns purple once exposed to the sun's rays. Once the band turns light pink though, that's your cue to get out of the sun. The salmon color means that you have "reached your daily limit of UV radiation" and should head to the shade.
Pretty nifty, right?

I will be stocking up these this summer! An excellent reminder and the perfect gift to send to my friends Down Under (Australia) for their summer our winter.

Great timimg to inform people about this new product as well as a fun way to remind all of us regardless of color the importance of using suncreen to protect our skin against dangerous UV rays that can potentially cause cancer, sun spots, wrinkles as we all age.
