Veronica Webb Puts Skin First

When it comes to beautiful skin, former model, actress and TV personality Veronica Webb could easily be considered the poster child. As a woman who made a living off of her looks, she can attest to the importance of maintaining healthy skin. So it's no surprise that Webb was asked to join the Eucerin Skin First council -- the company's latest campaign promoting the importance of skin care.

Black Voices, along with a number of beauty bloggers, recently joined Webb for breakfast to discuss her role in the Skin First council, why she believes healthy skin is vital to good health and, of course, tips on how she keeps her skin looking so amazing.

Webb, along with New York dermatologist Deborah S. Sarnoff and leading expert Rajesh Balkrishnan, make up the council, whose mission is to educate Americans on the important role skin plays in their overall health.

Eucerin is asking Americans across the nation to take the Skin First Pledge, promising to make skin care a top priority in their own lives as well as the ones they love. "Your skin is your largest organ in charge of protecting all your other organs, and when you start thinking about your skin as important as your liver, kidney and heart, then it takes on a much greater value," says Webb.

Although Webb does an amazing job taking care of her skin, she admits that it wasn't until she had her first child that she became adamant about a skin regimen.

"After I had my babies," she said, "I was so concerned with everything I put on their skin, but that led to me questioning what I was putting on my own skin and paying more attention to my wellness."

The stunning beauty revealed that her No. 1 beauty secret is simply "clean skin." In order to accomplish this, Webb says she breaks a sweat every day, moisturizes like crazy, applies sunscreen daily and drinks plenty of water.

When traveling, Webb suggests applying moisturizer every hour you're on the plane to keep your skin hydrated. She also recommends applying lotion to damp skin rather than dry in order for your skin to absorb more moisture. Sounds like she's on to something!
