Bring in Spring: This Spring's Beauty Trends

Comments (8)

We've seen the stars on the Golden Globes red carpets and the trends on the runways for spring, and most of us have wished we had makeup artists to achieve those same looks. But the good news is that you don't need a makeup artist for this spring's simple trends. Check out Black Voices top spring makeup trends to keep you one step ahead of the game.
Pink lipsticks: Celebrities like Kerry Washington in a pale pink and Rihanna in an electric magenta have shown us that pink lipstick shades aren't just for Barbies anymore. Try your hand at pink this Spring while keeping in mind that the darker your complexion, the brighter colors you'll be able to pull off. For a soft, romantic look, try a pale pink like Mac's Cremesheen Lipstick in Shy Girl . For a bolder look, go for a more poppy of MAC's shades like Hollywood Nights.

Long lashes: Not your regular mascara wand's long lashes, this spring false eyelashes make the move from Hollywood to your bathroom. You can find false lashes anywhere from your local drugstore to Sephora, and they are easier to apply than you might think. You'll start by measuring the lashes against your eye–if they're wider than your natural lashes, cut them down lash by lash. Squeeze the glue onto the false lashes and with tweezers and a steady hand, apply the false set as close to your lash line as possible. Make sure to press them down to make sure they dry, and apply a few coats of mascara to intensify the lash look.

Old-Hollywood Waves: In an ode to the Hollywood starlets that paved the way with glamorous, softly waved hair, the same classic glamor has returned for Spring. You can get the look with less fuss than you'd need with a straightener. Start off with a side part and use a large curling iron to curl large sections. Each large section can be pinned up into a large pincurl (either overnight or few a few hours). Once you release the pins, shake your curls out by hand softly to reveal sophisticated waves.

Dramatic eyes paired with a nude lip: If you watched this year's Golden Globes or read the blogs the morning after, you know Halle Berry's sultry smokey eye and nude lip were the finishing touches to her sexpot appearance. A smokey eye is all about drama and smudge, so try e.l.f.'s Single Eyeshadow in Charcoal, pair it with a pure black eyeliner like CoverGirl Perfect Point Eye Liner in Black Onyx, and finish off the eye with a dramatic, volumizing mascara like Dior Show Mascara in Rich Black.

Pastel pink nails:
If you don't think pink is for you on your lips, try it on your manicure. Light pink nails are a big trend this spring, and OPI has some great pinks for the spring, like I Pink I Love You and Passion.
