Ghetto or Glam? Couture Nails From Japan Nail Expo

Comments (6)

Remember when gel acrylic overlays with an airbrushed pattern were very necessary? (Or maybe that's just in my hood.) Well, if you thought your sparkle dusted, crystal studded six inch talons were saying something - think again. The Tokyo Nail Expo, which took place earlier this month, showed us all what a nail job really looks like. Apparently, sparkles and flowers won't cut it. The ladies who showed up with outrageous nail art took it to the next level with manicures that incorporated plastic bows and arrows, mini Hello Kitty dolls and melting ice cream cones. See these spectacular creations after the jump!

The Expo, which has been going on for several years now, attracted over 50,000 attendees including professional manicurists, nail enthusiasts, Japanese pop stars and actresses. The Japanese nail industry is a multi-million dollar one, so, as random as this seems - it makes total sense. Ghetto? or Glam? Either way, it's great!
